‘Inspired by Reiki Energy’ by Jacqui Gayle

I have recently become a member of the UK Reiki Federation and as part of the membership, you receive their magazine called Resonance. In this edition there was a book which just seemed to call out to me. Being a Complementary Therapist who practices many therapies as well as teaching Reiki – Usui and Karuna® forms, this book appealed. I ordered it and as soon as it arrived I started to read. I couldn't put it down and managed to complete the book in 3 days (as well as working, cooking and cleaning), every spare minute was spent reading it even whilst waiting for clients!!

The book is about Jacqui Gayle's path with Reiki. How she managed to turn her life around with the energy of Reiki and other tools and techniques. For myself Reiki had been a life changer and has helped me and my family considerably. I feel this was why I felt drawn to this book and why I read it as quickly as I did.

For myself what I found fascinating about the book was how, as therapists we all seem to have suffered with something whether it be physically or emotionally which then leads us down the holistic path and onto what therapy appeals to us. My main passion is Reiki which is probably why this book connected with me.

As well as an insight into what Reiki is and how it can be used, the book gives information and details on Meditation and how good it is for us to allow the mind to relax and stop all the internal chatter that we have going on all the time. There are exercises and meditations in the book that will help you with this. At the end of each chapter there are Spiritual Keys on what you may like to do to help you along your own path more. If you would like to find out more about visualisation, goal setting and manifestation along with affirmations and gratitude then this is the book for you. It isn't too complicated or long-winded and lays everything out in easy to understand terms, so you don't need to be a Reiki Master or Healer to understand it!

Jacqui also goes to Japan to further her techniques in Reiki – to combine Eastern Reiki with the Western form she has already learned. Hugely eye opening on how different the approaches are in Japan compared with the Western World. We tend to place a lot of emphasis on symbols and making sure we “do” everything properly. Where as in Japan it is mainly about intuition and being guided by what you feel rather than what you see. Eye opening in how different cultures view the art of Reiki.

I would recommend this book for anyone who may have an interest in Reiki or possibly would like to find out whether this is something they would like to learn and practice. Reiki is achievable for anyone – you do not need to be a particular type of person, we are all able to do this if we want.

The Blurb

This timeliness, modern-day life story shows how using Reiki energy along with other tools and techniques helped Jacqui transform her life from depression and despair to one of empowerment.

"This is all the ingredients of a good story: conflict, reader identification and plot in which a sympathetic heroine struggles to master Reiki and succeeds through her own efforts. Jacqui has brought Reiki to life in a way that will be very helpful to beginners". Nick Cook (VWC President)

"Narrative non-fiction is at its best when the author reveal something about themselves as well as observing the world they live in. Jacqui does just that. Her writing is honest, straight from the heart, and provides a perfect example of how Reiki can help people overcome personal grief". Steve Barley
